Nigeria is a country where almost 80% of the population earn less than $2 a day and over 40% of children do not have access to primary education.

The Blessed month of Ramadan is upon us. All of us are preparing to welcome this guest into our lives. When the adhan for Maghrib is called, most of us will turn to a filled table and quench our thirst and satisfy our hunger. But for many this hunger doesn’t end.

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was asked, “Which charity is best?” The Prophet said, “A drink of water.” [Sunan al-Nasai]

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Whoever gives Iftaar to one who is fasting will have a reward like his, without that detracting from the reward of the fasting person in the slightest.” [Tirmidhi]

After hearing this Abdullah Ibn Umar used to only break his fast with orphans and the poor and needy. Imagine, if you help feed ten fasting brothers and sisters. You would get the rewards for their fasting as well.

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Verily, Allah, the Exalted, and Glorious will say on the Day of Resurrection: ‘O son of Adam, I was ill but you did not visit Me.’
He would say: ‘O my Lord, how could I visit you and You are the Lord of the worlds?’
Thereupon He would say: ‘Did you not know that such and such a slave of Mine was ill but you did not visit him? Did you not realize that if you had visited him (you would have known that I was aware of your visit to him, for which I would reward you) you would have found Me with him?

O son of Adam, I asked food from you but you did not feed Me.’
He would submit: ‘My Lord, how could I feed You and You are the Lord of the worlds?’
He would say: ‘Did you not know that such and such a slave of Mine asked you for food but you did not feed him? Did you not realize that if you had fed him, you would certainly have found (its reward) with Me?

O son of Adam, I asked water from you but you did not give it to Me.’
He would say: ‘My Lord, how could I give You (water) and You are the Lord of the worlds?’
Thereupon He would say: ‘Such and such a slave of Mine asked you for water to drink but you did not give it to him. Did you not realize that if you had given him to drink you would have found (its reward) with Me?”‘  [Muslim]

Who Your Donations Help?

Over the past year, your support and donations have made a long lasting impression in the lives of so many in need. An-Nadaa provided families with essential foodstuffs such as sugar and rice as well as serving daily iftar meals to the entire community. This year, in the blessed month of Ramadan they plan on taking care of not just Iftar but also food for the rest of the day so that these poor and needy Muslims also get the chance to forget their sorrows and make the most out of Ramadan. They will be able to worship in peace knowing that there is food waiting for them at home.

By donating for this Ramadan drive, our donors have the unique opportunity for being of the very first people to help their Muslim brothers and sisters directly on the ground in Nigeria. It’s not just about the quantity of the donation. The main aim is the quality of our donations and being a part of circulating good for the sake of Allah.
